Monica L. Wright is the Granger and Debaillon Professor of French and Medieval Studies. She is an expert on the representation of clothing and textiles in the French courtly literature of the twelfth century, and is interested in the relationship between sartorial signifiers and narrative structure as well as what literature can tell us about medieval material culture. Her publications include her book Weaving Narrative: Clothing in Twelfth-Century French Romance, available in multiple formats, including open access, and the chapter on Literary Representations in A Cultural History of Dress and Fashion in the Medieval Age. She has served as an editor of the international, interdisciplinary journal Medieval Clothing and Textiles.
