! - No abbreviations.
! - No vague or overbroad specialties. 'Renaissance literature' or 'twentieth century novel' are clear, whereas 'Francophone Studies' is vague and overbroad.  'International Relations' has a specific meaning within Political Science, but is vague in the context of MODL/Francophone Studies.
