The Undergraduate Major and Minor in French and Francophone Studies

In addition to the M.A. and Ph.D., we offer the B.A. in French and Francophone Studies (33 hours of 300 and 400 level courses, see curriculum) as well as a minor program in French (18 hours at the 200, 300, and/or 400 levels; see requirements for minors in the College of Liberal Arts). For further information on the undergraduate programs, please contact Dr. Fabrice Leroy.

The minor in Cajun and Creole Studies may be combined with a major in French or with another major field of study. There are summer study abroad programs with UL Lafayette faculty in Paris and Quebec and a French immersion program, also in the summer, at the Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia.  For more detailed information on the Sainte-Anne program, please contact Dr. Barry Ancelet. There are also exchanges with universities in French speaking Belgium and Canada. Please see your advisor for current information on these opportunities.
